West Bromwich Albion have strengthened their midfield options by securing the permanent signing of Toby Collyer from Manchester United for an undisclosed fee. The 22-year-old has put pen to paper on a four-year deal, tying his future to the Hawthorns club until the end of the 2028-29 season.
Collyer is no stranger to West Brom, having spent the opening half of last season on loan at the club, where he featured in 12 Championship matches. He then departed to join Hull City for the remainder of the campaign, playing a part in their successful push for promotion to the Premier League.
The midfielder's move back to the Midlands marks Albion's ninth piece of summer business, as the club continues to reshape its squad ahead of the new season. Other recent additions include Jimmy-Jay Morgan and Conor Townsend, with the club evidently prioritizing depth and experience across multiple positions.
Collyer came through the ranks at Manchester United and made his mark on the first team during the 2024-25 campaign, appearing 13 times across all competitions for the Red Devils. His competitive debut came in a difficult outing, as United suffered a 3-0 home defeat to Liverpool in September 2024. Despite that result, the appearance represented a significant milestone in his development as a professional.
Explaining his decision to return to West Brom on a permanent basis, Collyer pointed to both the stature of the club and his previous positive experience there.
