Roberto De Zerbi is banking on a summer of heavy investment, headlined by the arrival of Sávio, to change Tottenham's fortunes following their chastening 3-0 opening-day defeat at Brentford.
The Brazilian winger, formerly known as Savinho during his time in England, completed a £75m move from Manchester City on Tuesday, a fee that could climb to £85m with add-ons. It stands as a club-record sale for City, who originally paid £30.8m to sign him from Troyes. The 22-year-old has requested to be known simply as Sávio going forward, a name he used at various points before his two seasons in Manchester, and will wear it above the No 17 shirt previously worn by Cristian Romero, who departed for Atlético Madrid.
Speaking to reporters ahead of Wednesday's Carabao Cup clash with Charlton, De Zerbi brushed aside questions about the naming switch, insisting his focus lies elsewhere after Saturday's dismal showing at Brentford.
