Celtic are continuing their search for reinforcements in midfield and goal as the transfer window edges towards its climax, with the Glasgow giants making notable progress on more than one front.

According to reports, Celtic have moved closer to agreeing a deal for midfielder Niko Sigur, though the 22-year-old is unlikely to arrive immediately. Sigur is currently expected to be named in Hajduk Split's squad as the Croatian side push for qualification to the Conference League, meaning any transfer to Parkhead would likely be delayed until that European commitment is resolved.

Celtic are also said to be in advanced discussions over a move for Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper Balazs Toth, with a fee in the region of £4m being mooted for the shot-stopper as the Scottish champions look to bolster their options between the posts.

There could also be a twist in Celtic's long-running interest in Gvidas Gineitis. The Torino midfielder has been linked with a move to Red Bull Salzburg, but with that proposed transfer reportedly stalling, the door may have reopened for Celtic to revive their own pursuit of the player.

Aston Villa right-back Kosta Nedeljkovic has been linked with a move to Ibrox, with suggestions he could be signed in time to be eligible for Thursday's Conference League play-off first leg against Jablonec at home.

Rangers, meanwhile, have seen a £7.5m bid for Brighton winger Amario Cozier-Duberry rejected. The 21-year-old has since attracted interest from Wolverhampton Wanderers, who have made an enquiry of their own for the player following Rangers' failed approach.

Elsewhere in the Scottish game, Dundee are closing in on a loan agreement for Swansea City striker Bobby Wales. However, the Dees face competition for the 21-year-old's signature, with Motherwell, Reading, Cambridge United and Stevenage all said to be interested in securing his services.

Kilmarnock could be set to lose defender George Stanger, who is entering the final year of his contract at Rugby Park. English League One side Burton Albion have reportedly lodged a six-figure bid for the player.

At Dundee United, manager Jim Goodwin has addressed the uncertain situation surrounding wing-back Will Ferry. Goodwin confirmed that Ferry has been offered an improved contract extension by the club, but admitted his long-term future remains unresolved. Goodwin described the situation as
