Record-Breaking Augsburg Strike Can't Stop Bayern Comeback as Chaos Reigns Across Europe

By LiveScore365 Newsroom · La Liga Athletic Club

Bayern Munich were stunned by the fastest goal in Bundesliga history on Saturday but showed their trademark resilience to snatch a 2-2 draw at Augsburg, as a weekend of dramatic football unfolded across the continent.

Robin Fellhauer needed just eight seconds to find the net, capitalizing on a defensive mishap by Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, who attempted to clear the ball straight into the path of the Augsburg forward. The strike eclipsed the previous record held jointly by Kevin Volland and Karim Bellarabi by a single second, and gave the hosts an early dream start against the German champions, who had lost only once in their previous 48 league matches - that defeat also coming against Augsburg back in January.

Bayern regrouped after the interval, with Ismael Saibari pulling them level. However, Neuer was at fault again in the 64th minute, punching away a shot from Calvin Brackelmann straight to Rodrigo Ribeiro, who had the simplest of tasks to tap home and restore Augsburg's advantage. Harry Kane, who had earlier struck the woodwork, turned provider with ten minutes remaining, squaring the ball for Nathaniel Brown to convert and secure a share of the points for the visitors.

Elsewhere in the Bundesliga, Bayer Leverkusen were involved in a seven-goal thriller away at Mainz, eventually prevailing 4-3. Robert Andrich opened the scoring with a stunning volley inside five minutes, and Patrik Schick doubled the lead shortly after. Mainz responded through a Anthony Caci brace to level the score before the break. Leverkusen regained control in the second half courtesy of goals from Jarell Quansah and Moussa Diaby, though Benedict Hollerbach's late strike for Mainz ensured a nervy finish.

Hamburg produced a dramatic late comeback to defeat Hoffenheim 3-2. Yussuf Poulsen opened the scoring early on before Fisnik Asllani equalized for the hosts. Bambase Conte then fired Hoffenheim ahead with a fine effort from distance early in the second half, but Hamburg's fortunes turned when Hoffenheim's Bernardo was sent off. The visitors saw one effort disallowed by VAR before Terem Moffi headed home an 83rd-minute equalizer, and Miro Muheim completed the turnaround with a stoppage-time winner.

Stuttgart cruised to a 2-0 victory at Paderborn thanks to goals from Jeff Chabot and Chris Fuehrich, while Union Berlin edged past Elversberg 1-0 at home following a late winner from Livan Burcu.

Away from Germany, La Liga witnessed scenes of controversy as Rayo Vallecano's match against Athletic Club was abandoned entirely. Supporters inside the Vallecas stadium hurled objects onto the pitch in protest against club president Raúl Martín Presa, forcing the referee to halt proceedings in the 13th minute. Paper aeroplanes, rubber balls, and other debris rained down from the stands, and play was temporarily suspended as players were sent back to the dressing rooms. When the sides returned to resume the match, the disruptions continued, ultimately leading officials to call off the fixture entirely with the scoreline still goalless.
