Northampton Town have confirmed the completion of a takeover led by a consortium that includes former Brazil international Alexandre Pato, following approval from both the Independent Football Regulator and the English Football League earlier this month.
The investment group, Sports Alpha Capital (SAC), has acquired a 70% shareholding in Northampton Town Ventures Limited, the entity that holds the majority stake in the League Two club. The remaining 30% will stay in the hands of the club's existing owners, David Bower, Nigel Le Quesne and Kelvin Thomas, who will continue as shareholders and directors.
As part of the deal, Northampton say the club is now debt-free, a notable shift after the Cobblers reported a pre-tax loss of nearly £3 million back in April 2026. Reports have indicated the club's debt previously stood above £13.5 million before the transaction, underlining the scale of financial backing now behind the League Two side.
