Tottenham Hotspur are bringing back their Hall of Fame in a fresh initiative aimed at honouring the club's rich history and strengthening ties with supporters. The news was confirmed just a day before the club marks the 144th anniversary of its founding.
The revamped scheme will recognise former players, managers and other influential figures who have left a lasting mark on the north London club. Tottenham first launched a Hall of Fame back in 2004, inducting 45 players and managers across the following twelve years. Names honoured during that period included Bill Nicholson, the manager who guided Spurs to legendary status, several members of the famous 1961 Double-winning squad, and Steve Perryman, who remains the club's record appearance-holder.
The original programme was shelved when White Hart Lane closed its doors in 2017 ahead of the switch to the club's new stadium. Its return follows conversations between the club and its Fan Advisory Board, with organisers keen to design a format that captures a wider, more inclusive picture of Tottenham's past. Notably, this marks the first time that former players from the women's team will be eligible for inclusion.
Going forward, inductions will be split into four distinct categories: a men's player or manager who represented the club before 1990; a men's player or manager from 1990 onward; a women's player or manager from any period in the club's history; and an individual who has made a notable impact on or off the pitch in a broader capacity.
This year's honourees have already been agreed through a unanimous decision between the club and the Fan Advisory Board, with the identities of the new inductees to be announced in stages over the coming days. They will be officially introduced to fans ahead of Tottenham's Premier League fixture against Aston Villa at home on 19 September.
A dedicated celebration evening is scheduled to follow at the stadium on 21 September, during which a new Hall of Fame wall positioned near the players' tunnel will be officially unveiled. That installation will become a permanent part of the stadium tour experience offered to visiting fans, while highlights from the induction ceremony will also be made available through Tottenham's digital and social media platforms for supporters who cannot attend in person.
In addition to the physical wall, the club plans to launch a dedicated Hall of Fame section on its official website. This online archive is intended to give supporters across the globe permanent access to information celebrating the club's most significant figures, ensuring the legacy of past heroes remains accessible well beyond matchday.
Looking ahead, Tottenham have outlined plans to formalise the nomination process for future years. Prospective inductees will be selected using an agreed set of criteria developed jointly by the club, the Fan Advisory Board, and former players. Once a shortlist has been established, supporters themselves will be given the opportunity to have a direct say by voting for their preferred candidates, adding a democratic element to how future honourees are chosen.
The relaunch represents part of a broader effort by the club to deepen its connection with its fanbase while paying tribute to the many individuals — men and women alike — who have shaped Tottenham's identity across more than a century of football history.
