Chelsea have sent highly-rated Kazakhstan winger Dastan Satpayev out on a season-long loan to Championship side Burnley, just days after the 18-year-old put pen to paper on a long-term deal at Stamford Bridge.
Satpayev's move to England was completed after Chelsea agreed a £3.4 million deal in January 2025 to sign him from Kazakh club Kairat FC. He officially joined the west London side upon turning 18, signing a six-year contract that includes the option of an additional year. Two days later, the switch to Turf Moor was confirmed.
During his time at Kairat, Satpayev established himself as one of the most promising young talents to emerge from Kazakhstani football, racking up 58 senior appearances and contributing 26 goals. He also gained experience on the European stage, having featured for the club in the Champions League.
Before sealing his temporary switch to Burnley, Satpayev had a brief taste of life with his new parent club, travelling with Chelsea's first team on their pre-season tour of Australia and Asia. He made an immediate impact under new head coach Xabi Alonso, starting on the left flank and scoring inside the opening six minutes as Chelsea beat Western Sydney Wanderers 6-4 in Alonso's first match in charge. He was also given further minutes off the bench in defeats to Tottenham Hotspur (2-1) and Juventus (1-0), and appeared briefly in a fiery 3-3 draw with Johor Darul Ta'zim.
With that experience behind him, Satpayev now switches to Championship football, joining a Burnley side under the guidance of new head coach Nicky Hayen. The Belgian took charge at Turf Moor following the sacking of Scott Parker, with Mike Jackson having overseen the club on an interim basis before Hayen's appointment.
Speaking after finalising the move, Satpayev expressed his excitement at the opportunity to further his development in English football.
