Paris Saint-Germain have reached a deal in principle to sign Barcelona forward Ferran Torres in a transfer worth an estimated £42.7 million, a move that could have knock-on effects for the future of winger Bradley Barcola.
The fee for Torres, a Spain international, is understood to be around 50 million euros. The 26-year-old was recently given permission to skip training as he worked to finalise the switch to the French capital.
Torres has enjoyed a productive campaign for Barcelona, netting 21 goals and providing three assists in 49 appearances across all competitions as the Catalan club claimed the La Liga title. His profile was further elevated this summer after he scored the extra-time winner against Argentina, helping Spain lift their second men's World Cup title.
Since joining Barcelona from Manchester City in 2022, Torres has established himself as a regular contributor, and he has also become a key figure for the Spanish national team, scoring 25 goals in 65 caps.
The deal represents the latest significant addition to PSG's already stacked attacking options this summer, following the arrival of Maghnes Akliouche from Monaco. Luis Enrique's squad already boasts firepower including Ousmane Dembele, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Desire Doue, alongside Barcola.
PSG's continued spending comes on the back of a triumphant period under Luis Enrique, who has guided the club to back-to-back Champions League titles. The Parisians added to their trophy cabinet on Wednesday with a 2-1 victory over Aston Villa in the UEFA Super Cup.
While bringing in Torres, PSG appear increasingly open to allowing Barcola to depart, with Liverpool showing strong interest in the French international. Despite initially ruling out a sale of the 23-year-old this summer, PSG have reportedly softened their stance and have already held preliminary discussions with the Merseyside club.
However, sources suggest there remains a substantial gap between the two clubs over Barcola's valuation, with PSG said to be holding firm on an asking price in the region of £145 million — a figure that could complicate Liverpool's pursuit.
Arsenal have also been linked with a move for Barcola, with the Gunners reportedly turning their attention to the winger after missing out on Vinicius Junior, who opted to sign a new contract at Real Madrid rather than explore a move to the Premier League.
Adding further intrigue to PSG's business this summer, the club have also reportedly increased their offer for Ajax winger Mika Godts to a fee in excess of £42.7 million, according to Dutch outlet De Telegraaf. Barcola himself has reportedly rejected an approach from PSG regarding a contract extension, as he seeks assurances over regular playing time going forward.
With Torres set to bolster an already formidable front line and Barcola's future increasingly uncertain, PSG's transfer activity this summer continues to signal their ambitions both domestically and in Europe as they aim to build on their recent continental success.
