Youri Tielemans is set to make his first appearance for Manchester United when Michael Carrick's side face reigning European champions Paris Saint-Germain at the Nya Ullevi Stadium in Sweden.
The 29-year-old midfielder linked up with his new teammates for the first time last week, having taken a break following Belgium's run to the World Cup quarter-finals in North America. His inclusion in the squad for the friendly represents a timely boost for Carrick as he continues preparations for his first campaign as permanent manager.
United captain Bruno Fernandes is also expected to feature after returning to training this week following his own post-tournament holiday. He is joined in the squad by Portugal compatriot Diogo Dalot, Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha, and Morocco international Noussair Mazraoui, all of whom have rejoined the group after their summer breaks.
Despite being back with the squad, Cunha will not be involved against PSG. He is in the same situation as first-choice goalkeeper Senne Lammens, who returned to Carrington training on the same day as his fellow Belgian, Tielemans. United have stated that both players will remain behind to "fully recover from non-related minor illnesses," with hopes they will rejoin the group during next week's training camp in the Republic of Ireland.
That camp will be followed by a clash with rivals Leeds United at Croke Park in Dublin on August 12, before United wrap up their pre-season schedule against AC Milan in Wroclaw, Poland, on August 15. The Red Devils will then open their Premier League campaign away at newly promoted Hull City on August 22, marking the start of Carrick's first full season in permanent charge after impressing during his interim spell last term.
Striker Benjamin Sesko remains sidelined for United due to a lingering shin injury carried over from last season. With Lammens unavailable and new signing Karl Darlow also missing, alongside the departures of Altay Bayindir to Celta Vigo and Radek Vitek to Middlesbrough, young goalkeepers Dermot Mee and Fred Heath have been called upon to provide cover for veteran Tom Heaton.
Elsewhere, Matthijs de Ligt is still working his way back from a long-term back problem, while Kobbie Mainoo, Marcus Rashford and Lisandro Martinez remain on holiday following the World Cup and are due to link up with the squad during the Ireland camp.
Fifteen-year-old JJ Gabriel, who recently made his senior debut for the club as a substitute against Atletico Madrid, has not been included in the squad to face PSG. That match saw a second-half brace from Bryan Mbeumo help secure victory for Carrick's team. Fellow academy prospects Jim Thwaites, Jaydan Kamason and Ethan Williams have also been left out this time, with Heath taking Bayindir's place in the squad. Young players including Harry Amass, Dan Armer, Jack Fletcher, Tyler Fletcher and Shea Lacey continue to be involved, as does forward Joshua Zirkzee, who has been the subject of transfer speculation this summer.
United's squad for the PSG fixture includes goalkeepers Tom Heaton, Dermot Mee and Fred Heath; defenders Harry Amass, Dan Armer, Patrick Dorgu, Diogo Dalot, Ayden Heaven, Harry Maguire, Noussair Mazraoui, Luke Shaw and Leny Yoro; midfielders Bruno Fernandes, Jack Fletcher, Tyler Fletcher, Mason Mount, Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans; and forwards Amad Diallo, Shea Lacey, Bryan Mbeumo and Joshua Zirkzee.
