AFC Bournemouth have strengthened their squad ahead of the new season by completing the signing of Spanish right-back Juanlu Sanchez from Sevilla, in a transfer that could rise to £11.1m.
The deal sees Bournemouth pay an initial £9.4m for the 22-year-old, with a further £1.7m available in add-ons depending on performance-related clauses, according to information understood by BBC Sport.
Juanlu arrives on the south coast with considerable experience for a player of his age, having made more than 100 senior appearances for Sevilla after coming through the club's academy system. During his time in Andalusia, he featured regularly in La Liga and also gained exposure to European football through appearances in the Champions League and the Uefa Super Cup.
Beyond his club career, Juanlu has already tasted major international success. He was part of the Spain squad that won gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics, a tournament in which he played a decisive role. The defender scored the winning goal in Spain's semi-final victory over Morocco before going on to help his country lift the title with a final win over France.
Reflecting on his move to the Vitality Stadium, Juanlu expressed his excitement at joining the Cherries.
