Arsenal are on the brink of completing a major midfield reinforcement, with Bruno Guimaraes set to be officially unveiled following the completion of his medical examination. The Brazilian international's move from Newcastle United, reportedly worth around £75million, has been one of the summer's most protracted sagas but appears close to a conclusion after the two Premier League clubs finally agreed terms this week. According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Guimaraes underwent his medical on Wednesday, with an announcement expected imminently once talks between the midfielder and manager Mikel Arteta are finalised.
The expected arrival of Guimaraes has already had knock-on effects at the Emirates Stadium. Christian Norgaard has departed for Everton after just one season in north London, with the Danish midfielder having made only seven Premier League appearances during Arsenal's title-winning campaign last season. Everton are understood to have paid roughly £7million for the 32-year-old, who has signed a two-year deal on Merseyside.
