Hull City Break Club Transfer Record to Land Greece Goalkeeper Tzolakis

Hull City have secured the signing of Greek international goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis from Olympiacos in a deal that becomes the club's most expensive transfer in its history. The 23-year-old has put pen to paper on a five-year contract at the MKM Stadium.

Neither club has officially disclosed the financial details of the transfer, but reports suggest the fee could reach approximately £20m including add-ons. That figure eclipses the £13m Hull paid Tottenham Hotspur for midfielder Ryan Mason back in 2016, a record that had stood for nearly a decade.

Tzolakis arrives in East Yorkshire having spent the entirety of his senior playing days at Olympiacos, the club where he came through the ranks and established himself as a first-team regular. Since making his debut for the Greek giants in 2020, the shot-stopper amassed 131 appearances and collected eight major honours during his time in Piraeus. Among his trophy haul are four Greek Super League championships and, most notably, the Uefa Conference League title in the 2023-24 season, a triumph that marked a historic European success for the club.

That continental achievement also opened the door to international recognition. Just weeks after lifting the Conference League trophy, Tzolakis was handed his first cap for the Greek national team in a fixture against Malta. He has since gone on to feature nine times for his country, cementing his status as one of Greece's most promising young goalkeepers.

Speaking after completing his move to Hull, Tzolakis reflected on the different chapter now beginning in his career.
