Rangers have strengthened their attacking options with the signing of Japanese winger Daisuke Yokota from Hannover, marking the club's ninth addition of the summer transfer window.
The 26-year-old has put pen to paper on a three-year contract at Ibrox, with the deal including the option to extend for a further year, giving the Scottish giants long-term security over the player's future.
Yokota's career path to Glasgow has taken him through several European leagues since he left Japan as a teenager to pursue his football ambitions in Germany. He came through spells with FSV Frankfurt and Carl Zeiss Jena before venturing further afield to Latvia, where he turned out for Valmiera, and then to Poland with Gornik Zabrze.
In 2024, the winger made the move to Belgium's top flight with Gent, though he struggled to break into the first-team picture consistently at the club. That led to a pair of loan spells, first at Kaiserslautern and then at Hannover, where he began to show his potential more regularly.
His performances in Germany's second division proved impressive enough to convince Hannover to make his move permanent earlier this summer. During that campaign, Yokota contributed five goals and four assists, numbers that appear to have caught the attention of Rangers' recruitment team and ultimately paved the way for his switch to Scotland.
Speaking after finalising his move, Yokota expressed enthusiasm about the challenge ahead at one of Scottish football's most storied institutions.

His experience across four different European leagues, England, Germany, Latvia, Poland, and Belgium's top divisions, brings a wealth of tactical adaptability that could prove valuable as he settles into Scottish football.
