Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has said he retains confidence in the video assistant referee system, even after a glaring error contributed to his side's defeat in the Manchester derby.
United fell 1-0 to City at Old Trafford after Erling Haaland scored the winning goal in a passage of play where City midfielder Enzo Fernandez was clearly offside and interfering with play. The mistake was significant enough that officiating body Pro Ref issued a formal apology to United within three hours of the final whistle. As a consequence, VAR official Matt Donohue and his assistant Blake Antrobus have both been left out of officiating duties for this weekend's fixtures.
Speaking ahead of United's Premier League away trip to Fulham on Sunday, Carrick was asked directly whether the incident had shaken his trust in the technology.
