Leeds United manager Daniel Farke has offered his support to goalkeeper Michael Zetterer following a difficult first appearance for the club, which came during a 6-3 Carabao Cup defeat to Chelsea in midweek.
Zetterer, who joined Leeds in a deal worth a reported £4.27 million from Eintracht Frankfurt last month, was given his first start for the club at Stamford Bridge, stepping in for fellow new arrival James Trafford. The German shot-stopper had arrived in England with a strong pedigree, having featured regularly in the Bundesliga and even in Champions League competition.
The match appeared to be heading in Leeds' favour after they built a two-goal advantage early in the second half. However, Chelsea responded emphatically once Cole Palmer, Morgan Rogers and Pedro Neto were introduced from the bench, with the trio helping the hosts fire in three goals within a seven-minute spell to completely flip the contest and eventually seal a 6-3 win.
Speaking after the game, Farke did not shy away from describing just how tough the outing had been for his new goalkeeper.
