Planned engineering works will cause part closures on both the Circle and District Underground lines throughout Saturday and Sunday, forcing many fans to rethink their usual routes into west London.
According to Transport for London, there will be no Circle line service running between Edgware Road and Aldgate for the duration of the closure period. TFL has recommended that supporters of both Chelsea and Hull opt for the Piccadilly line as an alternative way of reaching the stadium. Rail replacement bus services will also be put in place at Earl's Court to help cover gaps left by the line closures.
This marks the second occasion in less than a week that fans attending a game at Stamford Bridge have had to contend with transport issues. Just days earlier, disruption affected supporters heading to Chelsea's Carabao Cup third-round tie against Leeds United, though in that instance the problems were compounded by a delay to the match itself.
That midweek fixture had originally been scheduled to start at 8pm BST, but organizers pushed the kick-off back by 15 minutes. Chelsea confirmed the change through their official social media channels and via the big screen inside the ground, alerting fans shortly before the original start time.
Posting on X at 7:40pm that evening, the club wrote: "There will be a 15 minute delay to kick-off for our Carabao Cup third round tie with Leeds United tonight. The match will now begin at 20:15 BST."
With this weekend's line closures now adding to the list of logistical challenges facing matchgoers, Chelsea supporters heading to Stamford Bridge for the Hull fixture have been urged to factor in extra travel time and check TFL's updates before setting off.
