With the English transfer window now closed, several Premier League clubs are already laying groundwork for major moves in January, according to multiple reports.
Arsenal are reportedly considering a double swoop for Juventus forward Kenan Yildiz and Como's Nico Paz. Yildiz, currently recovering from foot surgery, has been linked with a move to the Emirates as the Gunners look to bolster their attack after failing to land Julian Alvarez or Vinicius Jr in the summer. The reigning Premier League champions are also said to be tracking Paz, though they would face competition from Real Madrid, who hold a buy-back option on the 22-year-old reportedly worth around €80m. Tottenham have previously had two bids for Paz turned down.
Away from incoming transfers, Arsenal are also said to be progressing contract talks with manager Mikel Arteta, who is expected to commit his long-term future to the club soon. The club are reportedly also working on fresh deals for Martin Odegaard, Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber as they look to secure key figures within Arteta's squad.
Chelsea, meanwhile, are reportedly ready to revive interest in Barcelona's Fermin Lopez, with an offer in the region of £103m said to be under consideration as a means of tempting Barca into a sale. The Blues have been searching for a replacement for Enzo Fernandez, who departed for Manchester City in a £125m deal, since their attempted signing of Monaco's Lamine Camara collapsed on deadline day when the French club withdrew from the agreement at the last moment, despite a medical reportedly being the only remaining step.
That setback has reportedly opened the door for Liverpool to enter the race for Camara, while both Liverpool and Manchester United are said to be interested in Roma's Manu Kone — another player Chelsea had considered as a Fernandez replacement before turning to Camara. Before that, Chelsea had also looked at Fulham's Sander Berge as a possible option, according to reports.
Liverpool are also reportedly preparing for the potential departure of Alexis Mac Allister next summer amid interest from Manchester City, and have identified Crystal Palace's Adam Wharton as a possible replacement. Wharton is also on Chelsea's radar, meaning the Reds could face competition if they move to formalize their interest.
At Manchester United, reports suggest the club have received a boost in their pursuit of Newcastle's Lewis Hall, who is viewed as a long-term successor to Luke Shaw at left-back. Despite Hall recently agreeing a contract extension at St James' Park running until 2031 with no release clause, Newcastle are reportedly still open to selling him next summer, though United would likely need to pay a substantial fee. United have also been linked with striker Nicolo Tresoldi and are said to be continuing their pursuit of Louis Page, having already completed the signings of young players Isaac Konde, David Eze and Karim Cassim.
Elsewhere, Richarlison's future at Tottenham remains uncertain as his options for a move continue to narrow. With transfer windows in Turkey and Saudi Arabia now shut, and manager Roberto De Zerbi leaving him out of Spurs' Premier League squad list, a return to his native Brazil appears to be his most realistic route to regular football before January. Vasco da Gama has emerged as a possible destination, with fans of the club campaigning for his signing, though manager Pedro Emanuel declined to discuss the matter directly. "I think my silence says it all," Emanuel said. "I work with the players who are here; he is a player I respect greatly, a player everyone knows, but they aren't here and I don't feel I have the right to comment on something that isn't part of our day-to-day lives, of my reality. I'm sorry I can't answer, but that's all I can say at the moment."
A reunion with former manager Marco Silva at Benfica appears unlikely given the Portuguese club's current attacking options, while moves to Russia or Mexico remain possible before those windows close later this week. Should none of those options materialize, Richarlison could be limited to featuring for Tottenham's Under-21 side until the winter window opens.
