BBC pundit Troy Deeney has named his latest Premier League Team of the Week, with Arsenal supplying four players following a series of standout individual performances across the division.
Goalkeeper David Raya headlines the selection after another string of crucial saves, with Deeney describing him as the league's finest shot-stopper. "Huge saves, again. It's why he's the best goalkeeper in the league. He keeps just coming up with big moments," Deeney said.
Defensively, Arsenal's Ezri Konsa also makes the cut after a commanding display that included a vital tackle on Morgan Rogers. Deeney was full of praise for the defender's growing importance to the side, suggesting he could eventually be needed at right-back once the squad returns to full fitness. "He comes in again and just makes that massive tackle on Morgan Rogers. I think he slots into what is an already incredible Arsenal team," he said.
Liverpool's Ronald Araujo also earns a spot, with Deeney noting a shift in his assessment of the defender. Despite previous criticism of his positioning during his time at Barcelona, Deeney credited Araujo for adapting well to a right-back role at Anfield.
Crystal Palace's Tyrick Mitchell is recognised for a two-goal display from left-back, continuing what Deeney sees as a pattern of underappreciated consistency. "He deserves to be in any team of the week. He's just Mr Consistent. He's never really spoken about enough," he said, adding that Mitchell was substituted despite his impressive outing.
In midfield, Newcastle's Harvey Barnes is included after scoring what Deeney described as a well-taken finish into the far corner. He argued Barnes deserves more recognition compared to teammates like Anthony Elanga who typically draw more attention.
Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard also makes the list, with Deeney reflecting on the club's decision to once have considered moving the Norwegian on. "It's just one of those moments where you just think, how did they talk about getting rid of Odegaard? It's scary," he said.
Liverpool's Cody Gakpo is praised for contributing two assists from a central midfield role, with Deeney highlighting the winger-turned-midfielder's composure despite a career path that included interest from Tottenham and Manchester City before he settled at Anfield.
Fulham's Cesar Palacios and Brentford's Vitaly Janelt round out the middle of the pitch, with Deeney grouping the pair together for their understated but effective performances. "They don't really get noticed in games unless they score, but if you're watching and you've played the game, you know these two are really important," he said.
Up front, Liverpool striker Alexander Isak is selected, with Deeney pushing back against recent criticism of the Swede following a scoreless outing against Newcastle. He pointed out that Isak had overcome multiple injuries, including a broken leg, and reminded doubters that he had once been tipped as a contender for the Golden Boot.
Arsenal's Kai Havertz completes the attacking line, with Deeney calling him the club's standout forward. "They keep telling us that Gyokeres will come good, but Havertz is their best striker. He proves it week in, week out. He's the best footballer they've got, and also their best finisher," he said.
For manager of the week, Deeney selected Everton's David Moyes, praising him for delivering results despite a difficult transfer window that limited his attacking options.
