"He's fit, his confidence is one of the highest that I've seen him and he has a point to prove," Arteta said of Odegaard. "Kai the same, Bukayo the same. We missed so many attacking players last season for long, long periods, and I don't know how many times they've played together, those three, in the last few years. Probably not much. You feel the chemistry that they have between them and what they can produce. You have to play with real intent and that's what I loved seeing today. He was running forward, he took shots, he created so many situations for his teammates."
While Arsenal are unlikely to abandon the disciplined, possession-based approach that has defined much of Arteta's tenure, this performance hinted at something more expressive layered on top of that structure. The fact that Odegaard was able to replicate the exact same goal within a matter of weeks suggests these patterns are not accidental but the product of a squad whose understanding has matured to the point where choreographed movements can look as spontaneous and difficult to defend as pure improvisation.
With the title-winning weight of a 22-year wait now lifted, there is a growing sense around the club that this Arsenal side may be entering a new phase — one where meticulous preparation and attacking flair are no longer mutually exclusive.
