Fulham are edging closer to completing the signing of Romania international Andrei Ratiu from Rayo Vallecano, as the west London club look to bolster their defensive options ahead of Tuesday's transfer deadline.
Negotiations between the two clubs remain ongoing, with the 28-year-old right-back understood to be receptive to the idea of joining Alvaro Arbeloa at Craven Cottage. While Ratiu operates predominantly on the right side of defence, he has shown versatility during his career and is capable of filling other positions if required.
The defender has spent almost the entirety of his professional career in Spain. He came through the Villarreal academy, with the exception of a loan spell in the Netherlands with ADO Den Haag, before moving on to Huesca. His path eventually led him to Rayo Vallecano in 2023, where he made his La Liga debut and has since established himself as a regular fixture in the side.
Arbeloa, who took charge of Fulham this summer following Marco Silva's departure, is eager to reinforce his squad before the market closes. Strengthening the backline appears to be a priority for the new head coach, and Ratiu's experience in Spanish football and defensive versatility could offer valuable depth to the Fulham ranks.
The potential arrival of Ratiu would add to what has already been a busy transfer window for the Cottagers.
