Rangers have strengthened their attacking options with the addition of winger Kim Minsu, who arrives at Ibrox as the club's latest recruit in a busy summer window focused on adding depth and creativity out wide.
Speaking to club media after putting pen to paper, the new signing expressed confidence in his own abilities and set out his ambitions in Glasgow. "I have a lot of confidence in myself to come here," he said. "I am an attacking player and I make many chances. I am direct and score goals – this is the most important thing."
Kim, who will wear the number 10 shirt, made clear that silverware is his primary motivation for joining the Ibrox club. "I'm here to win titles and to become a winner with Rangers. I want to help the team to be better every day, to be a good person and to do everything I can to help the team win everything that comes our way," he added.
The winger also spoke of the mentality he intends to bring to the squad, framing his move as an opportunity to prove himself at a club with high expectations. "I have a lot of excitement and I believe I have the mentality of a winner. I want to face whatever comes next head-on and I'm going to give the club what it deserves," he said.
His arrival continues a pattern of investment in wide areas for Rangers this summer. Kim joins a group of attacking recruits that already includes Djeidi Gassama, Findlay Curtis, Ross McCausland and Daisuke Yokota, all of whom have been brought in to add competition and versatility to the flanks.
The club had explored other options before landing Kim. Rangers were reportedly close to agreeing a deal for PSV Eindhoven forward Couhaib Driouech earlier in the window, but the 24-year-old's move stalled after he picked up a minor injury. Separately, an offer of £7.5m for Brighton's Amario Cozier-Duberry, 21, was turned down by the Premier League club, leaving Rangers to look elsewhere to fulfil their recruitment plans.
Manager Derek McInnes confirmed that bolstering the forward line had been a priority throughout the transfer window and expressed satisfaction at finally landing a player he believes fits the profile the club was seeking. "Strengthening our options in the forward areas has been a real target and focus for us throughout this window and we believe he will add another exciting dimension to the squad," McInnes said.
The Rangers boss also praised the technical qualities and character of his new signing, suggesting that Kim's attributes align well with what the club wants moving forward. "Minsu is a talented young player with excellent technical ability, energy and a real desire to develop and we are looking forward to working with him," McInnes noted.
With the addition of Kim, Rangers now boast a substantial array of wide attacking options heading into the new season, giving McInnes plenty of flexibility to rotate and adapt his approach depending on the opposition. The club's persistence in pursuing multiple targets throughout the window, even after missing out on players like Driouech and Cozier-Duberry, underlines the emphasis placed on refreshing the attacking unit.
Attention will now turn to how quickly Kim can integrate into the squad and begin contributing on the pitch, as Rangers look to translate their summer investment into tangible results across domestic and potentially European competition.
