Tottenham Hotspur are closing in on the signing of Manchester City forward Omar Marmoush, with the two clubs having agreed a season-long loan that includes an obligation to buy the Egypt international next year. The 27-year-old is expected to undergo a medical in north London before the move is finalised.
While the exact structure of the fee has been reported slightly differently, the deal is understood to be worth around £50-60 million, potentially including add-ons, and would allow City to recoup much of the £59m they paid Eintracht Frankfurt for Marmoush in January 2025. There is reportedly no sell-on clause owed to Frankfurt as part of the arrangement. Marmoush is set to sign a four-year contract with Spurs, with the option of a further 12-month extension.
Marmoush's move represents Tottenham's second acquisition from City in a matter of days, following the arrival of Brazilian winger Savio in a deal worth an initial £75m. It is also the club's eighth signing of the summer, joining Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes, Jan Paul van Hecke, Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi and Martin Dubravka in arriving at the club, with Spurs' total outlay this window already surpassing £300m.
Despite an encouraging start following his January move to the Etihad, Marmoush struggled to hold down a regular starting spot at City last season, making just eight Premier League starts and finishing with eight goals in 36 appearances across all competitions. In total, he scored 16 goals in 62 games for City but often found himself playing second fiddle to Erling Haaland. He was an unused substitute in City's recent Premier League victory over Bournemouth, with his last outing for the club coming in the Community Shield. At Tottenham, he will hope to establish himself as Roberto De Zerbi's first-choice forward, aiming to displace both Richarlison and Dominic Solanke in the process.
The departure continues a summer of significant turnover at the Etihad Stadium, where Rodri, Bernardo Silva, John Stones, Tijjani Reijnders, Nathan Ake and James Trafford have all left the club.
