With the transfer window entering its closing stages, speculation continues to swirl around several Premier League clubs, with Newcastle United reportedly exploring a move for Manchester City midfielder Nico González.
The Magpies are believed to be searching for a new central midfielder following the departures of Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimarães, and González has emerged as a potential target. The Spaniard has struggled to nail down a regular starting role at the Etihad Stadium since his move to the club, and City appear ready to sanction a departure as part of a wider squad overhaul this summer.
That clearout at City is also set to include two attacking players, with Omar Marmoush and Savinho reportedly on their way to Tottenham Hotspur. Their departures could free up funds and squad space for City to conclude further business before the window shuts.
Across Manchester, United are said to be in talks to sell some of their promising young players to rivals Arsenal. Gibraltar international James Scanlon, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Swindon Town, and fellow youngster Habeeb Ogunneye are reportedly close to moves to the Premier League champions, as Arsenal continue to invest in strengthening their squad depth with emerging talent.
At the same time, Arsenal could see a player head in the opposite direction, with academy graduate Ethan Nwaneri reportedly attracting interest from Fulham and Everton, while RB Leipzig are also said to be considering a loan approach. Meanwhile, Gabriel Jesus, who has been linked with a possible exit from the Emirates Stadium, is reported to want to remain with the Gunners.
Arsenal are also reportedly closing in on Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa, a development that would leave Unai Emery searching for defensive reinforcements. Chelsea's Tosin Adarabioyo, who is understood to be surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge, has been mentioned as a possible target, though Marseille could also enter the race for the England international's signature.
Aston Villa, meanwhile, remain a hub of transfer activity. Ajax are reported to have opened talks over a possible move for winger Leon Bailey, who has just a year remaining on his contract at Villa Park.
Everton, despite a relatively quiet window so far, are said to be working on deals behind the scenes. Alongside their reported interest in Nwaneri, the Toffees are also monitoring Como winger Assane Diao, though a fee in the region of £60m could make a deal difficult to complete.
Elsewhere, Hull City look set to miss out on Fiorentina's Niccolo Fortini after the Italian club agreed a deal to send him to Torino instead. However, the Tigers could soften that blow by pursuing a move for Nottingham Forest winger Dilane Bakwa.
Crystal Palace, who are keen to keep hold of their key players this summer, are understood to have rejected an approach from Galatasaray for winger Ismaïla Sarr.
In the English Football League, Wrexham are reportedly stepping up their efforts to add further depth to their squad, with a move for Plymouth Argyle striker Bim Pepple under consideration. However, they may face competition from Preston North End, as well as interest from clubs across Europe and MLS. The Welsh club have also been credited with interest in Leeds United forward Lukas Nmecha, though such a move appears unlikely at this stage.
