Manchester City have entered the race to sign Roma midfielder Manu Kone, setting up a potential battle with cross-city rivals Manchester United for the 25-year-old France international, according to reports.

United had already been strongly linked with Kone this summer, but City's interest suggests a fresh round of competition for the player's signature could develop as clubs continue to reshape their midfield options ahead of the new campaign.

Elsewhere in the Premier League, Aston Villa are reportedly considering a move for Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo as they search for a replacement for Ezri Konsa, who is poised to join Arsenal. Adarabioyo, 28, has also attracted interest from abroad, with Benfica said to have made contact with Chelsea over a possible deal for the England international.

Tottenham Hotspur are believed to be negotiating with Manchester City over the signing of two players from the Etihad Stadium: Brazilian winger Savinho, 22, and Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush, 27. Should either deal progress, it would mark a notable reshuffling of attacking options between the two clubs.

In Spain, Barcelona are keeping tabs on Harry Kane's contract situation at Bayern Munich. The England striker, 33, has entered the final year of his current deal in Bavaria, a scenario that has reportedly caught the attention of the Catalan club. Barcelona have also reportedly paused their pursuit of Atletico Madrid's Julian Alvarez, with the Argentine forward's proposed move put on hold while other options are explored.

Sunderland could be set to break their transfer record in pursuit of Sporting winger Geny Catamo. The Mozambique international, 25, has a release clause of 60 million euros (around £51m), which the Black Cats are reportedly ready to trigger.

Everton have been credited with interest in Como's Senegalese winger Assane Diao, 20, who could command a fee in the region of £50m to £60m.

Despite reported interest from Napoli, Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus is not thought to be seeking a move to Italy, with the Brazilian, 29, said to be uninterested in a switch away from the Emirates Stadium.

Manchester United's Joshua Zirkzee has drawn interest from both Napoli and Juventus, though both Italian clubs reportedly need to sell players before they can pursue a deal for the Dutch forward, 25.

In other transfer business, Hull City are said to be closing in on an agreement with Real Betis for Spanish winger Pablo Garcia, 20. Hull, along with Ipswich Town and Saudi club Al-Ittihad, are also reportedly pushing to sign Girona's Moroccan midfielder Azzedine Ounahi, 26.

Arsenal are working on deals to bring in Gibraltar winger James Scanlon, 19, and English right-back Habeeb Ogunneye, 20, both from Manchester United, according to reports.

Finally, Atletico Madrid are reportedly looking to beat Manchester United to the signing of 19-year-old Spanish defender Jorge Salinas from Racing Santander, as clubs across Europe continue to jostle for position ahead of the transfer window's conclusion.
