Coventry City have strengthened their attacking options with the signing of teenage forward Sidiki Cherif from Turkish giants Fenerbahce, as the newly promoted Premier League club continues an ambitious summer of recruitment under manager Frank Lampard.
The 19-year-old, who was born in Guinea before relocating to France at the age of five, has put pen to paper on a long-term contract at the Coventry Building Society Arena. His arrival follows a productive spell in Turkey, where he contributed two goals in 12 Super Lig appearances for Fenerbahce after joining the club on loan from Ligue 1 side Angers, with an obligation to make the move permanent.
Cherif's rise through the ranks has been swift. He began his career in France, making his professional debut for Angers during the 2023-24 campaign. That season ended in triumph as Angers secured promotion back to Ligue 1, and Cherif quickly showed he belonged at the higher level. He was among the standout performers for the club early in the following season, netting four Ligue 1 goals by the close of December before his form attracted attention from clubs across the continent.
That interest ultimately led to a move to Fenerbahce, where Cherif gained valuable European experience, featuring in both the Europa League and this season's Champions League qualifying rounds. His pedigree extends to international recognition as well, having previously earned call-ups to France's Under-16 and Under-21 squads.
Speaking after finalising his switch to the Midlands club, Cherif expressed his enthusiasm for the new challenge.
