One of the summer's most closely watched sagas continues to be the future of Julián Alvarez. The former Manchester City forward has reportedly made no secret of his desire to join Barcelona, but his current club, Atlético Madrid, are said to be reluctant to strengthen a domestic rival by selling their star man to the Catalans. Instead, it is understood that Atlético would rather see Alvarez move to Arsenal, with a meeting between club chief executive Miguel Ángel Gil Marín and the player reportedly scheduled to determine his next steps. Elsewhere in the Premier League, Newcastle United are reportedly looking to bolster their squad after losing several key players earlier in the transfer window.
