His ability to operate across multiple defensive positions, including right-back and central defence, would offer Arteta valuable tactical flexibility at a time when injuries are already testing his squad depth.
With Saliba sidelined and Timber's return uncertain, Arsenal's defensive options for the visit of Coventry City appear limited, increasing the urgency for the club to strengthen before the transfer window closes.
