Transfer Gossip: City Rebuff Barcelona's Rodri Offer as Spence Nears Inter Move

By LiveScore365 Newsroom · Premier League Arsenal FC

Manchester City have turned down a bid worth £55m from Barcelona for Spain international midfielder Rodri, according to reports, with the Premier League champions holding out for a fee in excess of £60m for the 30-year-old. Discussions between the two clubs are said to be ongoing despite the rejection, suggesting Barcelona may return with an improved offer in the coming days.

Elsewhere in England, Tottenham Hotspur defender Djed Spence appears set to leave north London for Serie A. The 26-year-old is reported to be undergoing a medical in Italy on Friday ahead of a switch to Inter Milan, with the deal understood to be worth around 30m euros (£25.6m) plus a further 5m euros in potential add-ons.

Arsenal's pursuit of Atletico Madrid full-back Marc Pubill has hit an early stumbling block, with the Spanish club informing the Gunners that the 23-year-old is not available for transfer this summer, according to Spanish media.

In the Championship, Hull City are closing in on two significant midfield additions. The Tigers are reportedly on the verge of completing a deal for French midfielder Lucas Gourna-Douath from Red Bull Salzburg for a fee of 4m euros (£3.4m). Hull have also lodged an offer worth more than £15m for Everton midfielder Tim Iroegbunam, as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of the new campaign.

Ipswich Town remain active in the transfer market, with reports suggesting the club is determined to land German forward Derry Scherhant from Freiburg. However, the Tractor Boys have already suffered one setback after Bayer Leverkusen rejected an offer of 20m euros (£17m) for Argentina international midfielder Exequiel Palacios, who remains a target for the Suffolk club.

In Italy, Napoli face a decision over the future of striker Lorenzo Lucca before they can progress talks with Arsenal regarding a potential deal for Brazilian forward Gabriel Jesus. The Naples club's next move is expected to have a direct bearing on any negotiations between the two sides.

At AC Milan, new manager Ruben Amorim has reportedly informed eight players they no longer feature in his plans at San Siro. Among those told they are surplus to requirements are England defender Fikayo Tomori and France forward Christopher Nkunku, both of whom could now be expected to seek moves away from the club this summer.

In other loan news, Italian side Genoa have expressed interest in taking Republic of Ireland striker Evan Ferguson on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion. The 21-year-old could be searching for regular first-team football away from the Amex Stadium after a difficult period at the south coast club.

Finally, West Ham United are reported to be confident of finalising a deal to sign Belgian midfielder Arne Engels from Celtic. The Hammers appear well-placed to secure the 22-year-old's signature as they continue to reshape their squad under their current recruitment plans.

With the transfer window still open, further developments in several of these deals are expected in the coming days as clubs across Europe look to finalise their business.
