Premier League clubs continue to shape their squads as the summer transfer window progresses, with Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham all involved in significant business.

Chelsea look set to complete the signing of Rayo Vallecano left-back Pep Chavarria, with a medical reportedly booked. The two clubs have been in negotiations since late June over the 28-year-old, who helped Vallecano reach last season's Conference League final, a match they lost to Crystal Palace in Leipzig. Chelsea needed reinforcements at left-back following Marc Cucurella's surprise £51.7million departure to Real Madrid. Although Chavarria holds a release clause of £42.5million, Chelsea were unwilling to meet that valuation and have instead agreed a fee understood to be around £16.2million with a further £1.7million in potential add-ons.

Arsenal, meanwhile, are exploring options to strengthen on the left flank and have identified Juventus winger Kenan Yildiz as a player of interest. The 21-year-old Turkey international enjoyed a productive campaign in 2025-26, contributing 11 goals and 10 assists in 47 appearances across all competitions for Juventus. His versatility to operate across the front line is said to appeal to manager Mikel Arteta, though his recent signing of a new four-year contract in Turin makes any potential deal a difficult proposition.

Arsenal have also been linked with Bayer Leverkusen defender Christian Kofane, who impressed against the Gunners in last season's Champions League. Speculation intensified after his agent, Eric Depolo, suggested Arsenal held an advantage in the race for his signature, citing the influence of Arteta and William Saliba, despite naming Chelsea, Newcastle, Everton, Brentford, Barcelona and Bayern Munich as other interested parties. For his part, Kofane has stated that he currently feels settled at Leverkusen.

At Anfield, Liverpool have confirmed the arrival of Ronald Araujo on a season-long loan from Barcelona, with the Uruguayan centre-back set to add depth and experience to the backline. The agreement reportedly includes an option for Liverpool to sign the 27-year-old permanently next summer for approximately £47.14million (€55m), contingent on a successful loan spell. Araujo expressed enthusiasm about the move and the prospect of partnering Virgil van Dijk, saying: "We all know what a great player Virgil is. He's a real reference point for the team and he's a kind of role model and reference for me personally as well. I'm looking forward to lining up alongside him hopefully and spending time with him both on the field and off it as well. I am excited to have that opportunity and enjoy learning from him, playing alongside him. With hard work, I think we can achieve good things together as a partnership and as a defence."

Manchester United, under Michael Carrick, are continuing their search for midfield reinforcements after already securing Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos. The club have reportedly learned that Monaco are demanding €50million (£42.7m) for midfielder Lamine Camara, a figure the French side are said to be standing firm on.

Elsewhere, Barcelona forward Ferran Torres could be heading to Paris Saint-Germain, with reports in France suggesting a verbal agreement is close following a €50million (£42.7m) bid from PSG. The move could have knock-on effects for Bradley Barcola's future at the Parc des Princes.

At Tottenham, defender Cristian Romero appears increasingly likely to depart, with Atletico Madrid reportedly closing in on a deal after the player gave his approval to the move. Inter Milan, Barcelona and Arsenal have also been credited with interest, though a switch to the Emirates has been ruled out given the rivalry between the two London clubs. Amid the uncertainty over Romero, Tottenham announced a new contract for Micky van de Ven, with the club and head coach Roberto De Zerbi praising the Dutch defender's leadership qualities, positioning him as a potential candidate to inherit the captaincy should Romero leave before the window closes.
