Trevoh Chalobah has ended his long association with Chelsea, joining Serie A side Como in a transfer worth more than £30m. The 27-year-old centre-back has put pen to paper on a five-year deal with the Italian club, who are managed by former Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas.
Under the terms of the agreement, Chelsea will initially banking £25.7m, with a further £5.1m possible through performance-related add-ons. The move follows what were described as lengthy negotiations between the two clubs before a fee could be agreed.
Chalobah's departure brings to a close a relationship with Chelsea that stretched back almost 20 years, having originally joined the club's academy as a young boy. He went on to make 151 appearances for the first team across all competitions, establishing himself as a versatile defensive option who could also operate in midfield when required.
During his time at Stamford Bridge, Chalobah collected five major trophies, including the FA Cup in 2018 and, more recently, the Conference League title in 2025. His development also included spells away from the club on loan, with stints at Ipswich Town, Huddersfield Town, French side Lorient and Crystal Palace all forming part of his football education before he broke into Chelsea's senior squad.
At international level, Chalobah has earned two caps for England and was included as a late addition to the Three Lions' World Cup squad, underlining the regard in which he is held by the national setup.
His switch to Como reunites him with Fabregas, with whom he briefly played during the Spaniard's final days as a Chelsea player. Fabregas has since built Como into one of the more talked-about projects in Italian football, guiding the club to a fourth-place finish in Serie A last season - a result that secured qualification for the Champions League for the first time in the club's history.
Speaking about the signing, Fabregas praised the defender's leadership qualities and the ambition the move represents for Como.
