Transfer Rumour Mill: Arsenal Chase Haaland and Mora as United Eye Simeone

By LiveScore365 Newsroom · Premier League Manchester City

With the January transfer window edging closer, Premier League clubs are already positioning themselves for a busy month of business, with Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham all reportedly in the market for fresh additions.

Arsenal appear to have received an unexpected boost in their long-shot pursuit of Erling Haaland. Although the Norwegian signed a new long-term deal at Manchester City last year, reports have suggested he could still depart next summer, with a move to Spain long considered his preferred destination given interest from Real Madrid and Barcelona. However, Football Insider claims Haaland's ambition to surpass Alan Shearer's Premier League scoring record may persuade him to stay in England after all, a development that would theoretically keep the door open for a stunning switch to the Gunners rather than abroad.

Arsenal are also said to be moving on a different front, targeting Mexican teenager Gilberto Mora. The 17-year-old, who already has 13 senior caps and featured at this summer's home World Cup, has drawn interest from several of Europe's biggest clubs. According to Mexican outlet El Porvenir, Arsenal have now approached his club, Club Tijuana, despite Liverpool previously being viewed as front-runners for his signature. Real Madrid, Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund and Benfica are also credited with interest in Mora, whose release clause is reportedly set at just £21.2m.

Elsewhere, Arsenal are reportedly locked in a three-way battle with Aston Villa and Newcastle for RB Leipzig winger Antonio Nusa, who is valued at around £60m according to journalist Ekrem Konur.

Manchester United, meanwhile, are among several clubs credited with interest in Giuliano Simeone, son of Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone. TEAMtalk reports that United have joined Manchester City and Tottenham in the race for the Argentine, with United said to have made initial contact over the summer following his impressive performances at the World Cup. The timing is notable, with United facing Atletico in the Champions League on Tuesday, offering an opportunity for further scouting.```

United's struggles on the pitch continue to dominate headlines after their 1-1 draw with Tottenham left them with their worst start to a league season in 40 years. Despite this, reports suggest the club have no immediate plans to part ways with manager Michael Carrick, even though Spurs - who arrived at Old Trafford without a win all season - were largely the better side before Bryan Mbeumo's goal threatened to secure United just their second victory in six league matches this term.

United could also benefit financially from Scott McTominay's continued rise at Napoli. The Scotland international, sold for £25.7m in 2024, is reportedly attracting fresh interest from clubs including Real Madrid, with United still holding a 10 per cent sell-on clause. McTominay recently returned to action for Napoli following heart surgery.

Liverpool, for their part, have been handed a steep asking price for Porto winger William Gomes, with the Portuguese club reportedly raising his release clause to €100m (£85m) amid interest from both Liverpool and United. The Reds are also continuing to monitor Lamine Camara and Marc Bernal, while keeping tabs on Kylian Mbappe's situation at Real Madrid.

Tottenham, meanwhile, are reportedly considering a surprise move for Real Madrid forward Endrick, who could be loaned out again in January having struggled for game time under Jose Mourinho. Aston Villa are also said to be plotting their own approach for the Brazilian, according to Football Insider.

Adding to the list of promising young talents linked with big moves, 15-year-old JJ Gabriel - who sensationally quit United last month - has reportedly held fresh talks with Bayern Munich, though the German champions are yet to make a firm offer amid suggestions he may prefer a move to Real Madrid or Barcelona.
