United States women's national team midfielder Savannah DeMelo has launched legal action against a Kentucky hospital and two of its doctors, alleging medical negligence contributed to a cardiac arrest she suffered during a match last September.
DeMelo, 28, who has earned seven caps for the U.S. senior team and plays professionally for Racing Louisville, collapsed on the pitch in the first half of a National Women's Soccer League fixture on September 14, 2025. She has not featured for her club since that day.
