Dortmund Cruise Past Paderborn as Freiburg Storm to Bundesliga Summit

By LiveScore365 Newsroom · Bundesliga Barcelona

Borussia Dortmund maintained their flying start to the Bundesliga season with a comfortable 3-0 home victory over newly promoted Paderborn, while Freiburg's emphatic 5-0 demolition of Borussia Mönchengladbach propelled them to the top of the table.

Dortmund needed just five minutes to break the deadlock at Signal Iduna Park. Fábio Silva, handed a rare start alongside Serhou Guirassy, latched onto a well-weighted pass from his strike partner to slot home the opener. It was a productive if occasionally frustrating afternoon for Guirassy himself, who saw two efforts chalked off for offside despite Dortmund's dominance over a Paderborn side still searching for their first goal since returning to the top division.

The result was put beyond doubt in the closing stages when substitute Felix Nmecha entered the fray and struck twice in quick succession, the second an eye-catching overhead kick that capped a routine afternoon in style. The victory means Dortmund have now won all three of their opening league fixtures, marking their strongest start to a Bundesliga campaign in over a decade, a feat not achieved since the Thomas Tuchel era.

There was also a welcome return for club captain Nico Schlotterbeck, who came through his first appearance since suffering an ankle injury at the World Cup without any setbacks. The defender revealed afterwards that he had deliberately kept his recovery quiet in the build-up to the match.
