Although the summer transfer window has closed across Europe's major leagues, transfer business and speculation continue behind the scenes as clubs plan for the future, with several major stories emerging involving Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Bayern Munich.
Manchester United have struck a deal with Liverpool to sign 16-year-old midfielder Isaac Konde, according to reports in the Daily Mirror. The teenager, considered one of Anfield's brightest academy prospects, is set to make the switch to Old Trafford in what represents a significant coup for United's youth setup as the club continues to invest in developing young talent.
United's interest in signing highly-rated youngsters does not stop there. The club remains determined to land Leicester City's 18-year-old England youth international Louis Page, despite failing to complete a deadline day transfer. According to ESPN, United held extensive talks with Leicester throughout the summer and made a late push before the window shut, but the two clubs could not finalise an agreement in time. United are reportedly unfazed by the setback and are confident they can still secure Page's signature, though they face competition from Arsenal, who are also tracking the midfielder. Had a deal gone through this summer, United had planned to loan Page straight back to Leicester for the season. Page featured 18 times in the Championship last term, and any future deal is expected to cost United in excess of £10 million.
At Arsenal, summer signing Bruno Guimaraes has spoken glowingly of manager Mikel Arteta's ambitions for the club following the Gunners' perfect start to their Premier League title defence, which includes a 2-1 win over Chelsea. The Brazilian, who joined from Newcastle in a £75 million deal, has seen limited action so far due to a minor injury issue, but is full of praise for his new surroundings. "It's great to be able to work with such a strong team," Guimaraes told the Mirror. "There's something impressive about this team."
Arsenal are also said to be eyeing a January move for Manchester City's Julian Alvarez as well as Eli Junior Kroupi, having missed out on several top targets over the summer.
Elsewhere, Chelsea are reportedly turning their attention to Atletico Madrid midfielder Pablo Barrios, valued at around €100 million, after failing to replace Enzo Fernandez following his move to Manchester City. The Blues had also considered a move for Fulham's Sander Berge as a potential option before a deal for Monaco's Lamine Camara collapsed at the last minute, according to BBC Sport.
Liverpool, meanwhile, are reportedly preparing for the possible departure of Alexis Mac Allister next summer, with Manchester City said to be interested in the Argentine. As a potential replacement, the Reds have identified Crystal Palace's Adam Wharton, who is also a target for Chelsea, setting up potential competition for the highly rated 22-year-old.
In Germany, Bayern Munich may be reconsidering their previously firm stance on selling forward Michael Olise, who has excelled since his move from Crystal Palace and drawn interest from both Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain. Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen declined to guarantee Olise's future at the club beyond the 2026/27 season, telling Sport1: "In this business, making promises is tricky."
Away from transfer news, Fiorentina have sacked manager Fabio Grosso after a poor start to the Serie A season that saw the club lose their opening three matches, with Paolo Vanoli the frontrunner to replace him. In England, Fulham's Alvaro Arbeloa and Tottenham's Roberto De Zerbi have seen their odds shorten in the betting markets to be the first Premier League manager sacked this season, following difficult results for both sides.
