Swansea City have strengthened their attacking options for the remainder of the season by agreeing a loan move for Manchester City youngster Monga, adding another young talent to Vitor Matos' squad at the Swansea.com Stadium.
The teenager, who came through Leicester City's academy system, will join the Welsh club until the end of the current campaign as he looks to gain valuable first-team experience in the Championship.
Monga's rise through the ranks has been notable. He made his senior debut for Leicester as a 15-year-old during the 2024-25 season and went on to make 30 appearances for the Foxes in the Championship that same campaign. During that spell, he etched his name into the record books by becoming the youngest goal scorer in Championship history, finding the net in a 2-1 defeat to Preston North End in August of last year.
His performances at Leicester caught the attention of Manchester City, who moved to sign him on a five-year contract earlier this summer. Upon completing the deal, City's director of football, Hugo Viana, spoke highly of the young forward's potential. "Exciting player," Viana said of Monga, adding that he has "already made huge strides in his young career."
Rather than keep him in Manchester, City have opted to send Monga out on loan to continue his development, and Swansea have won the race to take him for the rest of the season. The move represents a significant opportunity for the England Under-19 international to test himself in senior football on a regular basis.
The arrival adds further depth to a Swansea wide forward department that has already been busy in the transfer market this summer. Matos' side have brought in Elijah Just, Moussa Yeo and Joseph Opoku to bolster their options out wide, and Monga's arrival gives the Welsh club another attacking body to call upon as the season progresses.
Swansea have also been active in converting loan arrangements into permanent deals recently. Walta, who initially joined on loan from Swedish club Sirius in February, had his move made permanent by the Swans earlier this summer following a productive spell at the end of last season. The 23-year-old made 10 league appearances for Swansea during the closing stages of the 2025-26 campaign and scored his only goal for the club in a 3-1 win over Charlton Athletic on the final day of that season.
Walta's involvement this season has been limited so far, however. His only league outing came as a late substitute in Swansea's 2-1 opening-day victory over Stoke City, and he also featured briefly from the bench during the club's 1-0 EFL Cup first-round exit to Birmingham City.
With Monga now added to the ranks, Matos will have another young, versatile option to consider as Swansea continue their push through the Championship season. The teenager's ability to operate as a goal threat, demonstrated during his time with Leicester, could prove valuable for a Swansea side looking to add firepower to their attacking play in the months ahead.
