As the transfer window edges toward its closing hours, several Premier League clubs are still working the phones in pursuit of late reinforcements, with wide forwards, midfielders and defenders among the most sought-after positions across the division.
Liverpool remain active in the market for attacking width despite the incoming arrival of Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain. The Reds' need stems partly from uncertainty over Cody Gakpo, who has drawn interest from both Manchester City and Tottenham. Andoni Iraola's side have been credited with interest in a trio of wide options: Chelsea's Estêvão, along with Yankuba Minteh and Ismaïla Sarr, though it remains unclear exactly how the club's forward line will look once the dust settles.
Tottenham had appeared to be closing in on Iliman Ndiaye, but former Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic has emerged as an alternative target as the north London club's hierarchy looks to bolster Roberto De Zerbi's attacking options.
Crystal Palace are also seeking reinforcements, with manager Pierre Sage identifying midfield as a priority area. The Eagles find themselves competing with Fulham for Eintracht Frankfurt's Hugo Larsson, while also showing interest in Marseille's Quinten Timber. Atalanta centre-back Honest Ahanor, an 18-year-old, looks poised to join Palace on loan. Elsewhere at Selhurst Park, the club is working to fend off interest from Nottingham Forest in goalkeeper Dean Henderson.
Manchester United, fresh off a comprehensive victory over Ipswich, could nonetheless see a couple of squad members depart before the deadline. Fenerbahce are reportedly preparing an approach for Marcus Rashford, while Leny Yoro has attracted interest from Milan, managed by Ruben Amorim, who previously coached the defender. A move to Serie A also remains possible for Joshua Zirkzee, though not to Fiorentina as had been speculated.
On the incoming side, United are still prioritizing a left-back, and Aston Villa's Ian Maatsen has emerged as a surprise potential target in the closing days of the window. Should United lose either Zirkzee or Rashford, they have been made aware that Atletico Madrid striker Alexander Sorloth could become available for a fee in the region of £30million.
Further down the English football pyramid, Leicester City are facing a challenging start to life in League One, currently sitting in the bottom half of the table. The Foxes, however, are far from passive in the market, reportedly targeting as many as seven signings before Tuesday's deadline. Names being considered by manager Russell Martin include Sheffield United defender Mark McGuinness, Coventry's Joel Latibeaudiere, and Wrexham's midfield pairing of George Dobson and Matty James.
With the transfer window's conclusion fast approaching, clubs across multiple divisions are expected to intensify their efforts in the coming days, with several deals potentially going down to the wire as squads are finalized for the season ahead.
